Where to Watch Movies Outside This Summer Across the GTA

Summer has finally come to Ontario! One of the best ways to celebrate summer is to be outside as much as possible. And with a string of outdoor movies hitting the GTA you’ll be able to find a location that is right for you and your family. So grab a blanket and your neighbours and head outside to watch a movie under the stars.

Mississauga

Celebration Square is an award-winning public space located in the heart of downtown Mississauga making this the perfect spot to catch an outdoor movie. This year they will be showing a variety of moves from throwbacks to this recent years biggest hits. Take the family and enjoy movies such as The Secret Life of Pets, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Beauty and the Beast.

Location: Celebration Square

Dates: Thursday nights from May 25 – August 31st 2017

Burlington

Outdoor movies in Burlington aren’t always in the same location, so make sure to check the dates to see where your movie is that night. The different locations include Nelson Park, LaSalle Park and Central Park Bandshell.  These family friendly movies start at 9PM and include movies such as Finding Dory and La La Land. PRO TIP: check out the Burlington Events Twitter account @BurlEvents in case the movie is rained out.

Location: Various outdoor parks in Burlington.

Dates: Thursday nights from July 6th – August 17th 2017

Time: 9 – 11PM

Milton

Start your weekend off with some family time catching an outdoor movie in Milton. Come early and bring a picnic to save your spot and enjoy the full evening under the stars. Movies include Trolls and Beauty and the Beast to name a few. You are also able to purchase popcorn, snacks and drinks from the staff in case you forget yours!

Location: Kelso Park

Dates: Friday nights from August 11th- September 1st 2017

Time: 15-20 minutes before sunset (approximately 8PM)

Toronto

 

Harbourfront

Enjoy watching a movie outside with the comfort of seats during the free outdoor movies at Harbourfront. The iconic Harbourfront Center Concert Stage is the perfect setting to enjoy all of your favourite movies. This year they are showing Wayne’s World and My Internship in Canada to name a few. It’s a great way to spend your Wednesday evenings.

Location: Harbourfront Center Concert Stage

Dates: Wednesday nights July 5-August 30th 2017.

Time: 15-20 minutes before sunset (approximately 8PM)

 

Cityplace

This is the first time that outdoor movies are coming to Cityplace. Movies will be shown once a month until September by the iconic Canoe Landing Park. Come by early (around 8PM) to get settled and grab some snacks and drinks before the show starts around 9PM. The neighbourhood had voted for the movies that they wanted to watch and this year on their Facebook page. This year they are showing The Sandlot, Half Baked, and Ace Ventura Pet Detective. The final movie in September will be chosen closer to the date.  

 

Location: Canoe Landing Park

Dates: June 17, July 15, August 12, September 16 2017

Time: 9PM

Christie Pits

You won’t find mega blockbuster movies at the Christie Pits, but instead you’ll find a large social gathering called the Christie Pits Film Festival. This years film movies all revolve around themes of competition, camaraderie and the drive to win. Check out movies such as Bee Nation, Strictly Ballroom and Best in Show with gatherings that start at 6PM with food and drink vendors and the show starting at sundown (around 9PM)

Location: Christie Pits Park

Dates: Sunday’s from June 25 – August 20 2017.

Time: 9PM
